Not all dogs that are available at Polaris Alaskan Malamute Rescue are pictured here. Also, some of the dogs listed here may have already been adopted. We try to update our listings weekly. Please call us for the most up to date list of available Malamutes. All of the dogs are up to date on all shots, and neutered or spayed.

Kona and Duke Kona and Duke are a well matched pair that get along beautifully. They were surrendered separately, but have bonded as they have been fostered in side by side kennels and exercised together. They are both used to decent sized yards (3-5 acres) for running and will keep the right owner entertained. They look like twins (in size, coloring and temperament) with few differences. Both dogs get along great and are good companions. A solid 6 ft. fence (min.) is necessary - preferably hot wired. Kona (right) is a 2-3 yr. old spayed female who is a lanky, lean grey and white - about 80-90 lbs. She is an active one, bounds when she runs and is very happy. She is food motivated (easy to train) and adores people. She was with a neutered St. Bernard in her original home. Duke (left) is a 3-4 yr. old neutered male who is a lanky, lean grey and white - about 80-90 lbs. He too is active, loves running and is dog social - has been OK even with a neutered male previously. If left alone (with no other dog) he will jump 6 ft. fences and try to escape. He has been an indoor/outdoor dog. Kona and Duke are looking for their forever home. Kenai Kenai is an athletic, confident 8 yr. old neutered, sable male. He weighs about 90 lbs. and loves to go on hikes and in winter enjoys skijoring. He's great with all people, but may respond when challenged by other dominant dogs. He likes to patrol his current owner's yard (about an acre) and is quite active. He's in great physical shape - you'd think he was about 3-4 yrs. to watch him move - and knows some basic commands. He's been an "only dog" since he was a pup, but might get along with a non-dominant mid-aged female. He prefers being outdoors most of the time and is playful. He takes treats gently and responds well to food as motivating factors. He is being surrendered due to his owner's health issues, there are no behavior or health concerns for Kenai. Kaiya Kaiya is an energetic, playful female. She does well with male dogs - her original owner has two males (one a small one) with whom Kaiya plays well. She does not do well with female dogs. She likes kids, but plays roughly - probably would do best with children that are over 8 yrs. Kaiya needs socialization and a dominant leader who will work with her on basic training. She is a known digger and needs a lot of exercise. She's a bit aloof at first with most people, but loves energetic play. Kaiya would do well a male doggie companion and an owner who enjoys working with her and the challenge of trying to tire her out! Kaiya is looking for her forever home.
