Adoptable Polaris Rescue Malamutes
This page is updated and current as of 2/1/2010.
Not all dogs that are available at Polaris Alaskan Malamute Rescue are pictured
here. Also, some of the dogs listed here may have already been adopted. We try to
update our listings weekly. Please call us for the most up to date list of available
Malamutes. All of the dogs are up to date on all shots, and neutered or spayed.
Sometimes we also have Malamute Mix dogs available for adoption. If you might be
interested in one of these dogs please visit our
Malamute Mix page.
Some partners we work with have malamutes for adoption too. Please
note that these dogs are not affiliated with POLARIS in any way, but we
do want to provide notice that these dogs are available for adoption too.

If you are interested in adopting a Polaris dog (either one that is listed here
or one that may not be), please fill out our
adoption application.
Toby
Toby is a handsome, intelligent black and white 4 yr. old mal. He is affectionate and quite mellow at
home, but barks and gets excited around other new dogs - especially when there is commotion or rough
housing. He is being fostered with an older mellow female and does very well with her. He has not
demonstrated any food aggression and takes cues from the resident female dog. He loves to swim and is
fine with children over 4 yrs. or so. (toddlers wobble and their unpredictable movements can make him
nervous). He is not an exercise afficionado, but does behave better when walked/jogged 30 - 60 min. a
day. Toby enjoys car rides and is a well mannered passenger. However, if left alone in a car he
sometimes will continually bark as the car triggers separation anxiety. Toby would best be re-homed
with a family without toddlers, and has members who would want to work with him a short while on a
daily basis.
Toby is looking for his forever home. If you are interested
in giving him that loving home please fill out our
adoption
application.

Kona and Duke
Kona and Duke are a well matched pair that get along beautifully.
They were surrendered separately, but have bonded as they have been
fostered in side by side kennels and exercised together. They are
both used to decent sized yards (3-5 acres) for running and will keep
the right owner entertained. They look like twins (in size, coloring
and temperament) with few differences.
Both dogs get along great and are good companions. A solid 6 ft. fence
(min.) is necessary - preferably hot wired.
Kona (right) is a 2-3 yr. old spayed female who is a lanky, lean grey and
white - about 80-90 lbs. She is an active one, bounds when she runs
and is very happy. She is food motivated (easy to train) and adores
people. She was with a neutered St. Bernard in her original home.
Duke (left) is a 3-4 yr. old neutered male who is a lanky, lean grey and
white - about 80-90 lbs. He too is active, loves running and is dog
social - has been OK even with a neutered male previously. If left
alone (with no other dog) he will jump 6 ft. fences and try to escape.
He has been an indoor/outdoor dog.
Kona and Duke are looking for their forever home. If you are interested
in giving them that loving home please fill out our
adoption
application.

Nicholas
Nicholas is a great mal mix - about 5 yrs. old, black and white, beautiful blue eyes, neutered
male and an outdoor dog. He loves being with people and could stand to shed a few pounds to be
at a better weight. His family is moving to Texas (-soon!) and wants to allow a family in a
cooler climate the chance to add Nicholas to their family. He likes large spaces for running
and is a bit vocal. He is used to being fed and sleeps in the garage - if left alone in the
house he will mark. -Won't you consider giving this friendly guy a nice home?
Nicholas is looking for his forever home. If you are interested
in giving him that loving home please fill out our
adoption
application.

Kenai
Kenai is an athletic, confident 8 yr. old neutered, sable male. He weighs about 90 lbs. and
loves to go on hikes and in winter enjoys skijoring. He's great with all people, but may respond
when challenged by other dominant dogs. He likes to patrol his current owner's yard (about an acre)
and is quite active. He's in great physical shape - you'd think he was about 3-4 yrs. to watch him
move - and knows some basic commands. He's been an "only dog" since he was a pup, but might get
along with a non-dominant mid-aged female. He prefers being outdoors most of the time and is playful.
He takes treats gently and responds well to food as motivating factors. He is being surrendered
due to his owner's health issues, there are no behavior or health concerns for Kenai. Won't you
want to welcome this great dog to your home?
Kenai is looking for his forever home. If you are interested
in giving him that loving home please fill out our
adoption
application.

Mali
Mali is a lovely 2 yr. old small (57 lbs.), sweet female who has been living with a family she adopted on a
rural 5 acre homestead. She loves people, but may be dominant with other female dogs and will chase cats.
She loves to play tug of war, play ball and enjoys her toys. She is beginning to dominate the resident dogs
and cannot be trusted in the field with wildlife and livestock. Local farm neighbors have complained and have
threatened to harm her. She needs proper containment, but would do well with a male buddy. Her family seeks
a better home environment for this affectionate dog with someone who will provide the proper training (needs
work on a leash), offer her companionship & activity and love her for the dog she is.....
Mali is looking for her forever home. If you are interested
in giving her that loving home please fill out our
adoption
application.
