Adoptable Polaris Rescue Malamutes

This page is updated and current as of 5/8/2013.

Not all dogs that are available at Polaris Alaskan Malamute Rescue are pictured here. Also, some of the dogs listed here may have already been adopted. We try to update our listings weekly. Please call us for the most up to date list of available Malamutes. All of the dogs are up to date on all shots, and neutered or spayed.

Sometimes we also have Malamute Mix dogs available for adoption. If you might be interested in one of these dogs please visit our Malamute Mix page.

Some partners we work with have malamutes for adoption too. Please note that these dogs are not affiliated with POLARIS in any way, but we do want to provide notice that these dogs are available for adoption too. For more information click here.

If you are interested in adopting a Polaris dog (either one that is listed here or one that may not be), please fill out our adoption application.

Kona and Duke

Kona and Duke are a well matched pair that get along beautifully. They were surrendered separately, but have bonded as they have been fostered in side by side kennels and exercised together. They are both used to decent sized yards (3-5 acres) for running and will keep the right owner entertained. They look like twins (in size, coloring and temperament) with few differences. Both dogs get along great and are good companions. A solid 6 ft. fence (min.) is necessary - preferably hot wired.

Kona (left) is a 2-3 yr. old spayed female who is a lanky, lean grey and white - about 80-90 lbs. She is an active one, bounds when she runs and is very happy. She is food motivated (easy to train) and adores people. She was with a neutered St. Bernard in her original home.

Duke (right) is a 3-4 yr. old neutered male who is a lanky, lean grey and white - about 80-90 lbs. He too is active, loves running and is dog social - has been OK even with a neutered male previously. If left alone (with no other dog) he will jump 6 ft. fences and try to escape. He has been an indoor/outdoor dog.

Kona and Duke are looking for their forever home. If you are interested in giving them that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Maynard

Maynard is a really affectionate, highly active, two year old neutered black/white/tan male who weighs about 85 lbs. He is used to being the only dog in the family and his favorite thing is to have his chest scratched. His current family has a toddler and a newborn and cannot provide the extent of attention that this young boy needs. He requires an active owner who will provide a high amount of regular exercise and enjoys playing with him. He knows several commands (basic and others), but also gets so excited that he may nip at people to promote play or to get attention when going unnoticed. An adopter with young children should work with him on this characteristic. He is food motivated so such training can be easily accomplished. If alone, he also may bark to get attention or when he is bored. Maynard would do well in a household with a large fenced yard and would welcome energetic human playmates that keep him occupied!

Maynard is looking for his forever home. If you are interested in giving him that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Sasha

Sasha is an active and affectionate, 6+ yr. old gray & white spayed 77 lbs. female. She loves being with her family and enjoys daily walks and hiking in the mountains. She is great with kids of all ages and has been raised with a male canine companion. With new dogs, it takes an introductory period for her to get acquainted - she has done best with medium to large sized males. She has a prey drive and is not good with cats or small animals. As she is food motivated, training may be easily accomplished. She knows several commands now. She can do well in a small home as she prefers interacting indoors with people, instead of spending a lot of time in a yard. If you have a medium to large sized male (non dominant) dog and would like a companion dog, Sasha would be a wonderful addition!

Sasha is looking for her forever home. If you are interested in giving her that loving home please fill out our adoption application.
