Mal Mixes

This page is updated and current as of 12/9/2011.

On occasion, POLARIS may promote Alaskan Malamute Mixed Breed dogs for adoption. This is not our standard practice, but we will try to do it as long as we can find the resources to support the efforts. If you would like to contribute to help in this activity, please visit our donations page. Thanks for helping to support these dogs receive a second chance on life....

If you are interested in adopting a Polaris dog (either one that is listed here or one that may not be), please fill out our adoption application.

Binxy

Binxy is a 6 yr. old female possible Sib/Malamute/chow mix. She is only 45 lbs. and has some malamute markings, but a black tongue and shorter snout. She is playful (she's not delicate) and active and enjoys escaping from outdoor fenced areas if left alone. She would do well with a non dominant male doggy companion and is very affectionate. She had a husky playmate earlier and misses the activity. She does better with older children (over 8 yrs.) and loves adults. If you want a dog to exercise regularly and you enjoy licks, Binxy is your girl...!

Binxy is looking for her forever home. If you are interested in giving her that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Ezrea

Ezrea is a lively 4 yr old mixed 70 lbs. female mal mix originally from Alaska. She is a super nice dog who has many mal markings, but has a lab-like (sleek & smooth) coat, narrow body and club tail. She loves to play outdoors and is very energetic - she needs a secure fenced area with adequate height (6 ft.) to ensure her containment. She has been raised alone, but submits to the neighbor's male dog and plays well with him. Would not re-home with a female dog. She does play roughly, so she probably would do better in a home with older (over 8 yrs.) kids. Due to her size and excitability, she knocks over toddlers, but is not aggressive. She needs lots of regular exercise and would do well with basic command training. -If you have the time to work with this rowdy girl and love her, won't you want to add her to your family?

Ezrea is looking for her forever home. If you are interested in giving her that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Annie

Annie is a younger stray who came to us from a man who saw the original owners dumping her at the end of a rural road.... She is cautious and fearful at first, then will warm up to you after a few minutes. She has some Northern breed (mal+) in her, but her graceful body is almost greyhound-like in shape, without the mal plumed tail or pointed ears. She is thin and would benefit from adding some weight - she's about 50 lbs. She is crate-trained and does well alone - enjoys a confined area where she feels safe. She can be vocal and is content as a house dog, but loves going on walks and meeting new people. Her foster home is working with her on socialization skills (with people and other dogs) but may be best as the only dog in a home. She knows her basic commands (sit, shake, stay, lay down) and listens a majority of the time. She is playful and loving and is looking to share that love.

Annie is looking for her forever home. If you are interested in giving her that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Diego

Diego is a big, neutered male malamute mix (perhaps a little German Shepard?). He is 2 years old and weighs about 100 lbs., is mainly black with two cute tan spots over his eyes, but has a solid body. Diego would benefit from losing 5-10 lbs. He is alert and vocal - will bark when a new person arrives at the property and is quite talkative with his family. He is protective of his 5 year old child companion - he has not biten, but stands between an adult and the child. He is a sweet and loving dog, but will need a strong leader to work with him on basic commands and his resource guarding issues. He is dog social (lives with 2-3 medium size dogs now and also is ok when he visits the owner's neighbors' dogs) and needs an appropriate fenced area for reliable containment. Diego would do better with a companion dog, but will need to be the more dominant of the two. Feedings should also be separate.

Diego is looking for his forever home. If you are interested in giving him that loving home please fill out our adoption application.

Buddy

Buddy is a mixed Northern breed (maybe combined with Heeler?) young male with a smooth coat. He is small (40 lbs.) compared to a typical malamute, but is dog social and requires a lot of exercise! He is 9-10 mos. and mostly black. He enjoys young children, but may jump on them in play and knock them down. He would benefit from learning some basic manners and having a canine playmate. He is very sweet and energetic. He is used to an older female dominant husky as a playmate. Buddy would make a great companion dog!

Buddy is looking for his forever home. If you are interested in giving him that loving home please fill out our adoption application.
